From supporter and campaigner of the first African American president, Barack Obama, the “Boss” and his beloved E- Street Band will perform this Sunday at the XLIII Super Bowl. The half-time show at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Fl with the All American Rock ‘n’ Roll artist will be sure to be a success among the approximated 148 people or so that will be watching the game.
Perhaps the gig will result in increased sales for Bruce’s brand new album “Working on a Dream” recently released on Colombia Records. As an All- American Pop Culture idol, in the music industry the Boss will be a major hit! But, will his new record be as popular as his last recording “Magic,” referred to as his second best album by the Rolling Stones? Guess we will have to wait and find out.
After watching the Superbowl and seeing Bruce Springsteen perform, as a fan of his music, I was very impressed and thought it was a great half-time show. In response to your question regarding whether this would result in increased sales for his new album, according to the Boss himself, that is exactly what he was going for.
ReplyDeleteI was listening to the radio yesterday and the radio DJs were talking about Bob Costas' interview with Springsteen after his legendary performance. Costas asked Springstreen flat out: "They've been asking you to perform this for years, what made you decide to do it now?" Springsteen's repsonse? "I have a new album to promote!"
So with Springsteen's goal of promoting himself and his music, he also provided millions of fans with an exciting performance of some of his greatest hits. I think that his intended effort may have paid off, but the record sales will be the true answer to that.
